Void Reaver

void reaver

Void Reaver, although strictly speaking this is the ‘second’ boss of the Eye, in all truth you can easily skip by the previous boss, Al'ar, and take down this guy whom is aptly named ‘loot reaver’ first.

Abilities

Pounding – An 18 yard AoE centered on the Void Reaver, 3 second channel, deals 1350-2250 arcane damage per sec, 12 second cooldown.

Arcane Orb – 6000+ AoE combined with a 6 second silence effect, will randomly be targeted towards any place that a non-melee player is standing, 3 second cooldown.

Knock Away – A single target knockback against the highest aggro target, reduces threat, 20 second cooldown.
Enrage – Utilized after 10 minutes, auto-wipe.

Fight

This fight is extremely simple, possibly more so than bosses from generally lesser dungeons such as Gruul’s lair or Karazhan, indeed, the fight maintains the exact same formula from 100% health all the way to 0%, the only key condition being to take down the boss before the ten minute mark.

Basically, formation wise you’ll want everyone ranged spread out as much as possible, at maximum range for their spells as well, this is to allow them a chance to run away from/avoid incoming Arcane Orbs.

Melee will instead have to deal with Pounding, another attack that can simply be avoided altogether by fleeing the general vicinity, just keep everyone topped off if at all possible and you should be fine in this regard.

To further enhance the reduction of Pounding damage, have everyone stand at the very outer limits of the Void Reavers massive hit box, it’s fairly easy to see when engaging the boss why he shouldn’t hit you more than once with this attack.

Beyond that the other main worry would be the knockback, the main tank will most likely lose aggro at one time or another, use a secondary tank to grab ahold of the boss in this case.  Other than that, maintain DPS, make certain not to pull aggro however, and take this guy down in 10 minutes or less to enjoy his easily earned loot.
