Leotheras the Blind is a blood elf demon hunter, trained by Illidan himself and well, it’s somewhat obvious the results aren’t quite so fantastic as he’s quite mad. Regardless, epic loot awaits you for dispatching this demon-endowed madman.
Abilities
Leotheras’s abilities are centered around a mixture of his humanoid side and demon side/form, the boss will spend an average of around a minute per form, transitioning from humanoid phase to demon phase and returning to humanoid wiping his aggro.
Humanoid Form
Melee – 2,500 – 3,000 on plate
Whirlwind – Deals 3,000 damage as well as a bleed effect lasting 15 seconds for 2500 damage per tick, the whirlwind attack lasts 12 seconds and resets aggro.
Demon Form
Chaos Blast – This is Leotheras’s only attack whilst in demon form, dealing 150 fire damage in a small AoE effect to his current target and also applying a 45 second debuff that increases fire damage taken by 1675 and can stack a total of 20 times.
Insidious Whisper/Inner Demon
This ability is used somewhere around 20 – 25 seconds into the demon form phase. Leotheras will summon up to 5 inner demons for various players amongst the raid, never targeted the primary aggro(main tank.)
Should Leotheras return to humanoid form while a given players inner demon is still standing they will be mind controlled for 10 minutes, a very bad thing.
11,000 HP
Melee – Around 1,000
Shadow Bolt – 3,500 shadow damage
Phase 1 – Humanoid Form
Phase one would be humanoid form, the main trouble of this stage being how to deal with his whirlwind ability. During the whirlwind Leotheras targets a random player, moving towards them, the targeted player will need to run away until he de-aggro’s, whereupon he’ll select a new target.
It is possible to avoid even a single player being struck by the whirlwind, it’ll just take some good reflexes for those closer to the boss. Now, anyone who is struck will require continued healing unless they’re either a Paladin(divine shield,) or a mage(ice block.)
Also a paladin can utilize Blessing of protection on a player to remove this bleed effect.
After a whirlwind the boss will wipe aggro, what you’ll need to do is have a hunter misdirect the boss onto the tank, or should they be a paladin simply throw off an avenger’s shield instead.
Phase 2 – Demon Form
Demon form is fairly simple due to its utilization of a single attack, Chaos Blast, and is actually quite frequently tanked by a warlock using high fire resistance, however tanking the boss conventionally i.e. Warrior, Paladin, Druid, etc. is still possible.
The major trouble for this phase would be the Inner Demon’s/Insidious Whisper ability, although for most classes, especially rogues, hunters, and other DPS, this should be a fairly easy monster to dispatch, others may have more trouble.
Specifically to watch for would be your main healers, Holy priests, Resto Shamans, and Healadins(Holy Paladin.) Druids can always cat/bear form their inner demon whether they be a healer or feral.
Phase 3 – Split
Finally, at 15% the boss will split into two sides, the two halves previously displayed, Humanoid and Demon form. The Demon form will begin this phase at 100% health whilst the Humanoid retains the 15%, making this quite simple.
All abilities are as before except that the Demon Form will no-longer summon inner demons, once you’ve killed the humanoid form the demon will simply despawn.
