Rage Winterchill

Solarian

Rage Winterchill is the first boss of the Mount Hyjal instance within the caverns of time, also a raid boss version of a Warcraft 3 hero from the final levels of the game.  A lich utilizing all traditional lich-like abilities.

Abilities

4,200,000 HP

Icebolt – Single target spell delaing 4250-5750 frost damage as well as entombing the target in ice, dealing an additional 2500 damage per second for 4 seconds.  PvP Trinket, blink, and a paladins self-bubble can break this.

Frost Nova – Targeted AoE dealing around 3,000 and freezing players.

Death & Decay – Channeled spell dealing 15% of player’s maximum life every second within a range of 20 yards, this is positioned upon a random raid member and lasts 10 seconds.

Frost Armor – Reduces melee and attack speed when Rage Winterchill is struck, this buff is applied probably about half the time.

Enrage – 10 minute timer till Rage Winterchill goes berserk, 500% damage increase as well as a 150% attack speed increase, basically a wipe.

Fight

Rage Winterchill will be spawned after the first 8 waves of mobs are slain, invading the camp and promptly slaughtering a majority of the NPC’s via death & decay.  Still, Jaina and a few others will likely survive and therefore aid in the combat.

Positioning Rage somewhere in the center of the encampment is recommended as this allows the raid to spread out in a loose formation surrounding the boss, therefore reducing the chance of an overly deadly Death & Decay.

Besides this the fight is fairly simple as the boss will utilize abilities in a straightforward manner, no alternate phases nor tricks up his sleeve besides the ten-minute enrage timer.   Primary difficulties will be had in preventing the Icebolt from killing off players.

Natures swiftness and other speed increasers for healing will be the key to preventing an unexpected icebolt from dropping any given player, healers have to be on their toes at all times during this otherwise simple fight.
