Azgalor is a pitlord commander also present in the mount hyjal final stage of Warcraft 3, wielding the traditional weaponry/abilities as seen used by the pitlords in both the RTS game and WoW itself, meaning the large spiky almost halberd like… thing, and it hits hard.
Abilities
4,200,000 HP
Melee – 7,000 – 8,000
Cleave – 10,000
Rain of Fire – Similar the warlock spell, targeted 20-yard range AoE dealing 1619 – 1881 fire damage every 2 seconds for a total of 10 seconds, also applies an irremovable debuff ‘Unquenchable Flames’ also dealing 1250 fire damage every second for 5 seconds.
Howl of Azgalor – AoE silence with a 99 yard range and lasting 5 seconds, used to begin the encounter and every 15-20 seconds after that.
Doom – Cast every 50 seconds or so, placing a debuff on a random target called Doom, inevitably slaying the target after 20 seconds and spawning a lesser doomguard in their place. This will not be used on the main target(tank) and cannot be removed by even total immunity.
Fight
Yet again after the traditional 8 waves as per every other boss so far Azgalor will approach along the path to engage your raid party, luckily this guy takes enough time to allow you to get in position and prepare properly.
Warlocks will want soulstones ready(not utilized) to throw on players hit with doom, this enables you to somewhat effectively counter the effects of this undefeatable death spell, although obviously not completely due to lost buffs and such.
Secondly, the boss must be tanked a total of 100 yards or more from the tauren warriors, this is for a good reason as is explained later below, additionally healers for the tank should be spaced out so as to prevent all being nuked by an unlucky rain of fire.
A hunter with misdirection is helpful in keeping the boss from aggroing the rest of the horde base/thrall and his guards, allowing you to keep them as the safe zone for proceeding with doomguard kills.
Silence, although annoying, can be worked either around or resisted through usage of high shadow resistance gear/the paladin aura if desired.
Finally, doom and how to deal with it. Number one thing is for anyone afflicted by doom to immediately run towards the elite tauren guards, keep a tank or two here as well to pick up the spawning doom guards.
Upon arrival a warlock can soulstone the doomed player if possible, although possibly saving the soulstone for a priority target might come in handy during the long-term, yet in general this fight takes a maximum of around 5 minutes to complete therefore you may as well not be picky on who you save.
Either way, as soon as the player dies the doomguard will spawn and get grabbed by the appropriate tank, the tauren guards will dramatically ease this process due to the increased DPS/ability to allow them to tank an additional spawn if needed. |
